Alisa Ross graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1997 with a BFA in Fiber Design. In school Alisa focused on loom weaving and silk dying using graffiti lettering form as inspiration and later transitioned into combining these two when she started to create more 3D work and Soft Sculpture. Scribe and Alisa later got married and started a family where she took some time off to focus on family and just all around be one of the best Moms ever! Alisa and Scribe have now been together over 18 years and their two sons are still young but at an age where they can participate in artwork and allow her to get a little bit of work done without burning the house down! Now that Alisa is producing work again she has pulled her sewing machine back out to create all sorts of tiny friends and monsters! Since custom plush sculpture has started to make its way into more gallery work she has started to create larger more conceptual work like life size mounted animal heads and also plushie soft creatures for adults and kids alike. Some of the work of Alisa Ross was also used on an episode of HGTV’s Showdown. Jennifer Bertrand of Olathe, Kansas won HGTV’s Design Star and was asked to compete on an episode of Showdown. We were not sure if the Alisa’s work would be used or not but were really excited to see how the episode came together with her plush work sprinkled throughout the room! Alisa’s newer body of work has lead to gallery shows in Kansas City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Hawaii and more. Alisa has also been a featured artist with Cardboard Spaceship at the San Diego Comicon creating limited plush runs. Along with her plush figures Alisa also does custom pieces for baby gifts, kids and adult sweatshirts and is open to adding you to her commission list if there is something she might be able to fabricate for you! Just contact her through our site and she will get back to you about quotes and a possible timeframe.
